Kaylee's Voice Journal 2/5/22

In this weeks voice lesson we started with a five finger pattern lip trill followed by that same pattern on ne and then no coming down. Next we did our ve, vey, va, vo, voo exercise, the biggest thing I need to work on with this exercise is making sure to keep space in my mouth. It's getting too closed. We also did ha ha ha's in between to tighten and engage the core.

Next, we sang ee oo ee ay on the same note, this is to help with onset of sound. The last warm up we did our colouratura exercise without the trill at the top though. I am not sure why we didn't do the trill but we didn't for whatever reason.

For the next half hour we worked on Deh vieni for the Aria competition! We discussed connecting to the piece and really feeling the emotions and knowing what you are singing. Then we went over some diction things, followed by breaking the song down and singing it line by line. Making corrections doing it over and then continuing on. --Maribeth wants me to listen to Anna Moffo singing it--... Some things to remember that I have to work on before the competition are to spend more time on Guin, the very first word in the recit. And hitting every note in Fioretti.

This was what we covered this week in our lesson, the focus was definitely prep for the competition. This lesson also showed me the importance of breaking down songs and lines even more instead of just running it all the way through.
