Roy Orbison-
This guy doesn't seem to like to open his mouth much. I imagine he keeps it almost closed like that while he sings because he's trying to achieve a certain sound, but it just... looks really uncomfortable. How much tension must he be experiencing? Sometimes it looks like his jaw is frozen in place. Whatever the case may be, the shape of his mouth relates directly to the way his voice sounds.
Judy Collins-
Is it normal to tune with a capo on? Never seen that before.
Anyway.
Judy's mouth doesn't open up very much. It does so more on lower notes, but on a lot of higher notes she closes her mouth more. I don't see much tension, I don't think. The lack of tension and not-very-open mouth lend to her laid-back vocal style. It reminds me of singers like dodie.
Ivan Kozlovsky-
Again with the... narrow aperture? I must learn some jargon one of these days. Even when Ivan sings more loudly, his mouth doesn't open much. I can't tell if it is affecting his sound production.
Piotr Beczala-
0 <-- this is the approximate shape of his mouth.
idk what to think any more about this topic. The significant openness of his mouth seems to aid with the level of sound he's producing. It's also rather easy to understand what he's singing about.
