Roy Orbison - Well first off I loved the song, such a classic! But after watching him, he barely opened his mouth! I was amazed especially at the higher parts, the space was so small. Because of that small space some of his notes just seemed strained. I could be wrong but it seems like there's a lot of jaw tension which is affecting the sound because the whole time he is singing he probably has like a centimeter if that of space between his molars... That was just my observation and it could be totally wrong, but those are my thoughts.
Judy Collins - This one was much better as far as aggiusamento, the openness of the mouth, it didn't seem like there was as much tension. Although I think if she had more space, the song would've been a lot clearer, like personally I would have liked a little more enunciation and I think moving the mouth more and opening the space more would've done that. But overall, I thought this was a very average amount of space.
Ivan Kozlovsky - OH my goodness!! His lips were like glued together, I couldn't believe it. I was amazed at the sound he was able to produce considering how closed his mouth was. Luckily it did open a bit for the higher notes, well or some of them. But still I thought my volumn was off from the video the first time I watched it because I thought his mouth was still closed when he started and then I realized it was just how he sang.
Piotr Beczala - What a contrast... Every note or word was sung with his mouth completely open. I guess I am just wondering now if you can really over open. Like is it bad for you or does it just require a lot more effort that you don't necessarily need to use. I preferred over opening to under, but still I would think it would be at least slightly easier to sing if you didn't completely open your mouth for each single word.
